The Hungarian Government has cut its annual budget for the support of the Hungarian Jewish community by 25 percent, it was reported here today.

However, the report said, the community appealed the cut, pleading that its financial situation was already very poor. In response to the plea the government is considering making a special grant equal to the amount of the cut but refuses, on principle, to restore the budget to where it was previously.
