During the year 1957, CARE, the American non-profit cooperative, broke all its previous records in Israel, Waldo E, Tibbets, CARE’s director in Israel, announced today.

In his annual report, Mr. Tibbets stated that in 1957 a total of 83, 000 food packages valued at $1,100, 000 were delivered to beneficiaries in Israel. In compliance with CARE’s world-wide policy to assist local economies, $130, 000 worth of foodstuffs was purchased in foreign currency from Israel suppliers.

Immigrant settlers, inhabitants of maaborot and a substantial number of school children benefited from various phases of CARE activities. Training equipment for vocational schools as well as scientific books for schools were also delivered.
