Israel now has “an even stronger friend” than before in Premier Charles de Gaulle, Pierre Gilbert, the French Ambassador to Israel, said on his return from France where he conferred with the new French Premier.

This was the first official contact between the new government of France and the Israel Embassy. A spokesman later revealed that the interview was held in an “extremely friendly” atmosphere.
