A number of Jewish community leaders were arrested in Czechoslovakia on charges of “Zionism” and of undermining friendly relations between Czechoslovakia and Egypt, according to reports reaching here from Prague.
The arrested men include Ernest Meisel and Walter Stein, both of Prague, Ernst Loew, of Prosnitz, and Tiberius Ney of Karlsbad. The homes of the four were searched for anti-Nasser material.
Information reaching here from Rumania says that six Jews were arrested by the Rumanian authorities in the city of Timisora. They included the former bankers Eheren-freund and Reinholz.
