Radio Moscow has broadcast a report on the celebration of the centenary of the birth of the Jewish writer, Sholem Aleichem. The report said the writer was honored by the designation of a special evening in his name in the Soviet State Literary Museum.

The affair was attended by Israel Ambassador Arie Arel, and Israeli diplomats in Moscow. An analysis of Sholem Aleichem’s life and work was made by the literary historian, R. Rubina, who cited new documents attesting to the great mutual sympathy with which Maxim Gorky, the famous Russian writer and Sholem Aleichem regarded each other. Poems devoted to Sholem Aleichem were read by Soviet Jewish writers.
