JERUSALEM, (May. 4)
Prime Minister David Ben Gurion wants Jewish mothers outside Israel to allow their children to participate in the building of this country. He made such an appeal last night, while addressing 100 Israel bond delegates who came here from Toronto and Philadelphia. When the delegates, including women, applauded Mr. Ben Gurion’s call, he told them: “that’s a promise, and the promise of a Jewish mother is good.”
The Premier told the delegations that Israel’s population would double in the next ten years. He delcared that Israel needed more than material aid, holding that what this country needed was “the best brains and hearts of the Jewish people, to prevent Israel from becoming another insignificant, Levantine state.”
One of the Israel bond delegates, William Wiener, of Philadelphia, presented to the Prime Minister a letter from Pennsylvania’s Governor, David L. Lawrence, congratulating Israel on its eleventh anniversary.
