The Soviet Union was called upon here last night, in a resolution adopted by the British section of the World Jewish Congress, to refrain from tolerating “any manifestations of anti-Semitism” in the Soviet press or on the Soviet radio.
Expressing “deep concern about the position of the great Jewish community in the USSR,” the resolution also appealed to the Soviet Government “to accord its Jewish citizens the human equality guaranteed by the Soviet Constitution, and to grant to Jewish citizens the same facilities granted to other groups in the USSR which that Constitution Justifies and requires.”
Another resolution called upon the Federal Republic of Germany to erase Nazism and anti-Semitism “not only in the interests of Jewry but also as a duty” to Western Germany’s own “young democracy” and “to the cause of human freedom.”
