President of Brazil Sharply Condemns Anti-semitic Manifestations

President Juscelino Kubitschek today sharply condemned the worldwide outbreak of anti-Semitic incidents. In a statement of policy he promised that the Brazilian authorities would not tolerate any anti-religious or anti-racial manifestations.

The President said that the Brazilian delegation to the United Nations had been instructed to support any international efforts to combat anti-Semitism.

The organization of Brazilian war veterans issued a statement today condemning the resurgence of anti-Semitism and called on the 3,000,000 members of the organization to stand ready to join the fight against religious discrimination in Germany “or in any other country.”

In a ceremony here, representatives of all factions in the Brazilian Parliament presented a delegation of the Federation of Jewish Institutions with a proclamation signed by 300 members of the House, condemning recent anti-Jewish incidents.
