The first “Dr. Abraham Mibashan Prize, ” an award honoring the memory of the late president of DAIA, central representative body of Argentine Jewry, was granted here last night to one of the country’s outstanding scientists, Dr. Alberto Gonzalez, professor of mathematics at the University of Buenos Aires.
The award, commemorating the activities of the late Dr. Mibashan, who died last March, was established by DAIA and by the Buenos Aires Jewish Community, which Dr. Mibashan also headed. The prize consists of a diploma and 100, 000 pesos (about $1, 250) and is the largest award of the kind in Argentina. It will be awarded annually for 10 years.
