Charges that the new Austrian Government may develop a right-wing, ultra-nationalist policy were vehemently denied here today in a statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency by the new Chancellor-designate, Alfons Gorbach.
Mr. Gorbach denied charges in the left-wing press alleging that Karl Schleinzer, designated as Defense Minister, has a Nazi past, Conceding that there may still be “incorrigible Nazis” in Austria, Mr. Gorbach stated that their numbers are “negligible,” and declared: “If there are some biting dogs among them, they must be curbed.” Mr. Gorbach pointed cut in his statement that he, himself, had spent almost seven years in a German concentration camp.
