Stewart L. Udall, Secretary of the Interior, has accepted the post of honorary chairman of the Israel bend campaign in Tucson, Arizona, it was announced today by Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, vice-president of the Israel Bond Organization.
In a letter addressed to members of the local Jewish community, Secretary Udall said: “I have accepted his honor because I regard the strengthening of Israel as indispensable to the fight for universal freedom, and I want to do everything possible to help further Israel’s development.” The United States Cabinet Officer called upon Jewish leaders to give their active cooperation to the Israel bond campaign, which he described as a “vital and challenging task.”
