Fire Causes $200,000 Damage to Chicago Synagogue; Vandals Suspected

Police began an investigation today to determine if vandals were responsible for starting a blaze last night which damaged the Agudath Achim South Shore Congregation. The fire, which destroyed the main auditorium of the synagogue, resulted in damage estimated by Rabbi Harold P. Smith at $200,000. The synagogue was the third Jewish house of worship to have burned in the area during the past three weeks.
