A special exhibit devoted to the Jewish community in Holland, showing, among other things, how many non-Jewish Dutch had helped Jews under the Nazi regime, was unveiled here today by the Canadian Jewish Congress. Attending the dedication ceremonies was Heindrich Jonka, Dutch Consul-General here.
The exhibit includes prints, drawings and photostats of documents and view of famous synagogues in Holland, ceremonial objects, and material depicting the Anne Frank story. Some of the materials were contributed by the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam, the Amsterdam municipality and the Portuguese Israelite Synagogue in Amsterdam.
Included also are rare copies of Hebrew books printed in Amsterdam during the 17th and 18th centuries. These were loaned to the exhibit by the Canadian Jewish Congress. After being shown here, the exhibit will be taken to various Jewish community centers throughout Canada.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
