American Jewish Committee Publishes Hebrew Magazine in Israel

The American Jewish Committee announced here today the publication in Israel of the first issue of its independent Hebrew language magazine. The magazine aims to encourage cultural creativity in Israel and to increase mutual understanding between Israel and Jews in other countries. It is part of the AJC’s new educational and cultural exchange program in Israel.

Entitled Amoth (Evaluations), the bi-monthly periodical is modeled in style and content after AJC’s Commentary. It is edited by Shlomo Grodzensky who, before emigrating to Israel ten years ago, was editor of the Yiddisher Kemfer, a Yiddish language literary magazine published in this country. He also served as editor of the Jewish Frontier, a monthly publication issued in New York.
