World Jewish Youth Parley to Be Held in Israel; 20 Lands Participating

“The Mutual Responsibility of Jewish Youth throughout the Word” will be discussed by 400 delegates from 20 countries at the second World Jewish Youth Conference which opens in Jerusalem on August 4, the Jewish Agency here announced today. Major Jewish youth organizations in the United States and Canada will be represented in the North American contingent of 95 youth leaders, the announcement said. The conference is sponsored by the Youth and Hechalutz Department of the Jewish Agency.

Three plenary sessions will feature addresses by former Prime Minister David Ben Gurion; Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Zionist Organization; Dr. Abraham L. Sachar, president of Brandeis University and rabbi Emmanuel Rackman, assistant to the president of Yeshiva University. Workshop commissions will deal with the global situation of Jewry today; Israel and Diaspora Jewish Youth; Jewish Youth and the adult community; Formal Jewish education; Education towards Jewish values; Jewish education and leadership in the club, and other activities.

The 95 delegates from the U.S. and Canada will represent the following major Jewish youth organizations: Atid, Betar, B’nai B’rith Youth Organization, Bnai Akiva, Canadian Young Judaea, Dror, Hanoar Haivri, Habonim, Hashomer Hatzair, Hillel Foundations, Jewish Welfare Board, Junior Hadassah, Keren Tarbut, Mizrachi Hatzair, National Conference of Synagogue Youth, National Federation of Temple Youth, Student Zionist Organization, United Synagogue Youth, Yavneh, Young Israel, Young Judaea and Young Zionists of the Zionist Organization of America.
