Suspended jail sentences and fines of up to $175 were imposed yesterday on eight religious zealots for demonstrations against a mission school in Haifa last September. Another defendant, a 15-year-old yeshiva student, was put on probation by Chief Magistrate Mrs. Starkman Vertinsky of Haifa Magistrates Court.
The trial was the second growing out of demonstrations staged against three mission schools in September. The first one also ended in fines and suspended jail sentences, A third trial, involving 104 zealots, has been bogged down in procedural questions in recent weeks.
