Freezing cold, snow and high winds buffeted Israel today for the second day, causing considerable damage to crops particularly citrus groves.

Nahama in the north was cut off by the raging Gaaton River and other roads in the Galilee were submerged by high waters. Jerusalem had snow and temperatures just above zero.

Coast guard vessels and planes went into action seeking a 17-year-old Greek sailor who was swept into the sea off Haifa during the gale windstorm.
