Golda Meir Concludes Eight-day Visit to Chile; Returns to Israel

Israel’s Foreign Minister Golda Meir left for Israel today after concluding an eight-day visit here during which she participated in inauguration ceremonies for Chile’s new President Eduardo Frei.

Before her departure, Mrs. Meir took leave of President Frei and presented him with a gift of antique pottery from Israel dating to the second century. She was accompanied during today’s meeting by Israel Ambassador Naor. Mrs. Meir was seen off at the airport by Chilean Foreign Minister Gabriel Aldes, and Robert Peralta, aide de camp of President Frei.

Mrs. Meir expressed satisfaction with the results of the visit here which included several meetings with the new President and senior Government officials as well as with many Latin American foreign ministers who represented their governments at the ceremonies. Mrs. Meir also attended a number of functions sponsored by the Jewish community here and visited the Chilean public school named for the State of Israel.
