Telephone and telegraphic communications with Jerusalem were interrupted today when workers in the Post Office, which operates these facilities, went on strike. Press cables were also affected. Communications from Jerusalem can reach outside this city only if sent by messengers for transmission through Tel Aviv, where the Post Office workers did not join the walk-out.

At the same time, today, a strike of Israeli milkmen was narrowly averted when a settlement was reached with the workers who had threatened to walk off their jobs in the dairy industry.
