Columbus Jew Gives $350,000 for Teaching Jewish History at Ohio U.

Establishment of a Samuel and Esther Melton Professorship of Jewish History and Studies at The Ohio State University was approved today by the university’s board of trustees.

The position within the department of history will be supported by a gift through the university’s Development Fund from Samuel M. Melton, industrialist and civic leader. Mr. and Mrs. Melton will give the university $20,000 per year for a trial period up to five years If after this time, it is decided to continue the professorship on a permanent basis, they will give an additional $250,000 for its support.
