Israel, Israel’s former, top-secret chief of security, who has been attached to Prime Minister Levi Eshkol’s office since last fall as the official adviser on security, tendered his resignation here today.

Mr. Harel, whose name could never be mentioned for many years, during which he headed Israel’s “Shin Beth, ” the country’s intelligence and counter-intelligence apparatus, was credited, among other achievements, with the operation which led to the capture, ultimate trial, conviction and execution of the late Adolf Eichmann.

Recently, there have been disagreements about his prerogatives in the position he holds in Mr. Eshkol’s office. He had threatened previously to resign. Today’s resignation by Mr. Harel was said to be final.
