Monty Jacobs, Official of the World Jewish Congress in New York, Dead; Was 50

Monty Jacobs, of the World Jewish Congress here, died at his home following a heart attack. A veteran both of the British Air Force and of the Israel Air Force, for which he volunteered during Israel’s 1948 War for Independence, Mr. Jacobs was born 50 years ago in Scotland.

He was a widely-read columnist in the Jerusalem Post, English-language newspaper in Israel, and later became the American correspondent for the London Chronicle, leading Anglo-Jewish newspaper of Great Britain. He served for a time as press director and executive director of the World Jewish Congress.
