JERUSALEM (Jun. 15)
The activities of the United Nations organization in the Middle East in the present situation were discussed here by Moshe Sasson, head of the Israel Foreign Ministry’s Arab affairs department, and Lt. Gen. Odd Bull, head of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization. Israel no longer recognizes Gen. Bull as head of that organization but as the personal representative of United Nations Secretary General U Thant.
Gen. Bull, it was reported, demanded the return of his former headquarters which had been seized by the Jordanians in the first day of fighting and later was recaptured by the Israelis. Mr. Sasson reportedly informed Gen. Bull that this was a matter for the military authorities to decide. About 70 United Nations observers are now deployed around the clock on the cease-fire line between Israelis and Syrians in Syria.
