The 25,300-ton S.S. Shalom, once pride of Israel’s merchant marine, bid a sad farewell to the Port of New York when she sailed from here late Friday afternoon, without passengers, on her last voyage under the Israel flag. The $20 million luxury liner, built for the Zim Lines in 1964, was sold earlier this year to the German Atlantic Line of Hamburg, which reportedly paid $16 million for her.
