Argentinian Official Tells Daia Government Too Busy to Protect Jewish Institutions

A highly placed source in the Jewish community here revealed today that when a delegation of DAIA met with former Subsecretary of the Interior Dr. Darlo Sarachaga to request more active measures by the Argentinian government regarding the recent bombing of the Jewish Community Center in La Plata, this official expressed regret about the anti-Jewish attacks but said the government had enough problems on its hands to grant special protection to Jewish institutions. The source said Dr. Sarachaga advised the Jewish community leaders to protect their institutions themselves. A poll taken in La Plata a few days after the bombing revealed that the majority interviewed regretted the attack but felt that “Jews are not liked much,” the source reported.
