A group of 63 college students from all over the United States left for Israel today to participate in the second annual Semester in Israel program sponsored by Tel Aviv University and the American Zionist Youth Foundation in cooperation with the Hebrew department of the University of Maryland. The program allows students to complete their regular undergraduate programs within the normal period while studying in Israel. Knowledge of Hebrew is not a prerequisite for participation. Courses offered in Israel include Jewish history. Bible study, archaeology, Israeli politics and sociology, all taught in English by Tel Aviv University faculty.
