Edward Gelber, Former President of Zionist Organization of Canada, Dies at 67

Edward Gelber, a former president of the Zionist Organization of Canada, who settled here in 1956, died today at the age of 67. Born in Toronto, he studied at the Toronto University and at Columbia University, returning to Canada for an active life in public service before settling in Israel. He was a founding co-chairman of the Israel Bond campaign in Canada, an officer of the Canadian Jewish Congress and a member of the Ontario and Israel bar, though he did not practice law. In Israel he served as deputy chairman of the board of governors of the Hebrew University, and as a member of the board of the United Israel Appeal. He served also as chairman of the Rubin Academy of Music here, as vice-chairman of the Yad Vashem, chairman of the executive of the International Cultural Center for Youth in Israel and as a member of the board of the Jewish National Fund.
