Pinhas Sapir, Minister of Finance, said today that the planning for the next decade calls for doubling the number of students in Israel and increasing the number of Sephardi among them to 25 percent. Speaking at the Labor Party center, Sapir said the plan has been discussed with Premier Golda Meir and heads of the education network in Israel but that it requires final touches. He said that while at the same time efforts would be made in the fields of housing, social welfare and health, he did not share the great cry of young couples asking for housing. Sapir said he was convinced that in 5-10 years the whole problem of young couples’ accommodations would be solved.
