The Knesset house committee last night rejected a demand by a National Religious Party MK for an immediate debate over alleged job discrimination against Sabbath observers. In a stormy session, the committee backed the Knesset Speaker’s ruling that the matter would have to wait its turn on the agenda. Yehuda Ben-Meir, of the NRP, claimed that many complaints of discrimination have been brought to his attention recently. He alleged that Lydda Airport authorities refused to employ persons who would not work on the Sabbath.
