Anwar el Khatib, the former governor of East Jerusalem district, told reporters last night that Jordan would not make a separate settlement with Israel. El Khatib, who recently returned from a visit to Amman where he met King Hussein, was commenting on a statement by the Palestine Liberation Organization. In that announcement El Khatib was accused of conducting political talks in Jerusalem on behalf of the Jordanian government. He emphasized Amman’s determination not to act separately. He categorically denied being assigned to any political mission by Jordan.
