A second Jew has been murdered recently in Iraq, a spokesman for the British section of the World Jewish Congress told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency today. The spokesman identified the victim as Jacob Abdul Aziz, a prominent member of the Baghdad Jewish community. The murder of another Baghdad Jew, Abraham Saigh, was reported a week ago.
(In Paris today the World Jewish Congress reported the murder of a third Iraqi Jew. He was identified by the surname Rajwan. No first name was given. He was said to be one of the Iraqi Jews reported missing.)
According to the WJC spokesman, Aziz disappeared recently along with seven other Iraqi Jews whose whereabouts remain unknown and are cause for growing anxiety in the Iraqi Jewish community. The spokesman said reports of the murder of a third Jew have not been verified but the recent events have aroused fear of a new anti-Jewish campaign in Iraq.
