A group of 70 Falashas are expected to arrive in Israel within the next few weeks and will receive immediate immigrant rights, according to a ruling of the inter-ministerial committee published last Thursday (See Tuesday’s Bulletin) The 70 Falashas–all single–will be the first to make aliya and become citizens of Israel according to the Law of Return.

The Falashas will be flown here in flights paid for by the Jewish Agency which made arrangements that potential immigrants pass a medical check and are confirmed as Falashas in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, though there is no Jewish Agency representative in Ethiopia. the group was organized by Histadrut’s “Koor” concern, which will handle the Falashas initially and employ them.
