The executive committee of the World ORT Union approved in principle today a proposal to double the ORT network of vocational schools in Israel over the next 5-10 years. The $127 million project is in response to a request made by the Israeli Minister of Education and Culture, Aharon Yadlin through ORT’s president in Israel, Chaim Herzog. More than 100 delegates and observers from ORT organizations in 23 countries are attending the meeting here, the first session of the World ORT Union executive to be held in Britain. The new project calls for the construction of 156,000 square meters of additional classroom space at an estimated cost of $96 million plus $31 million for furnishings and equipment.
