An Australian motion to reject an anti-Israel resolution presented by Syria and Libya at the conference of the International Labor Organization (ILO) here, won the support of 40 percent of the delegates today, mainly from the Western bloc. Although the motion did not receive the necessary majority, the fact that the Western nations were united in support of Israel was seen as an impressive victory for the Jewish State at a forum usually dominated by the Arab countries and their Communist and Third World allies.

All Western delegates spoke in favor of the Australian draft which urged that an end be put to the politization of the ILO. The West German delegate observed that enough harm has been done to the organization by the politization that resulted in the departure of the U.S. last year and damaged the universality of the ILO.
