The Canadian Bar Association has passed a resolution to study “any legal impediments which may exist to the bringing to justice of Nazi war criminals who may be found in Canada with a view to proposing to the government appropriate means of removing any such impediments.” The resolution, passed by the Association’s constitutional and international law sections, is the first of its kind. Irwin Cotler, Canadian Jewish Congress president, termed the resolution “a most encouraging development” and said he plans to meet with Canadian Solicitor General, Robert Kaplan, to review the matter.
