The Polish government plans to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising next year with impressive ceremonies on the site of the former ghetto. Polish officials said the commemoration will be one of the most important ceremonies held in Poland in recent years and Jewish survivors from all over the world will be invited to attend.

The Association of Polish Jewish War Veterans as well as the various associations of ghetto survivors will be asked to participate in drawing up the plans for the ceremonies which will last several days.

Most of the ceremonies will center around the impressive monument erected on the ghetto site. Several of the former ghetto buildings still stand and Polish officials are taking necessary measures to preserve them for historical purposes.
