May Inflation Higher Than Expected

Israel’s cost-of-living index rose by 1.6 percent in May, significantly higher than the 1 percent rate that had been expected.

The May increase brought the inflation rate for the first five months of the year to 7.1 percent, or over 17 percent in annual terms. In the past 12 months, prices have risen 16.9 percent.
