Former Israeli army chief of staff Amnon Lipkin-Shahak said he would announce whether he is running for prime minister next week, after the Knesset finalizes plans for elections scheduled to take place May 17. The announcement would give Shahak the 100-day grace period army officers and government officials are required to observe before running for office. Shahak is expected to run for prime minister at the head of a centrist list.
