Dillard University, a historically black college in New Orleans, has condemned the campaign by British academics to boycott Israel.
“It has come to my attention that an effort is under way to boycott Israeli academics,” Dillard President Marvalene Hughes wrote in a letter to the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, which promotes black-Jewish ties. “We find such efforts antithetical to the values of academic freedom and civility.
“Dillard University is an historical Black University that unequivocally detests the effort to silence, isolate, discount and ignore academic values of free expression and open discourse.”
The foundation distributed the letter for publication.
