A new exhibit at a South African museum chronicles the Ethiopian Jewish experience in Israel. “Ethiopia in Israel: International Photographic Exhibition” was to open Sunday at the Museum Africa in Newtown. South Africa’s chief rabbi was to officially launch the show, which is hosted by the South African Zionist Federation. Up to 1,000 people were expected to attend opening day celebrations, including representatives from Nelson Mandela’s ruling party, the African National Congress, and Israeli photographers whose work is on display. Muslim groups were expected to protest the exhibition, according to Jewish sources.
