UJC to move offices

The United Jewish Communities, the umbrella organization of the North American Jewish federation system will be moving its offices, according to a memo posted on the organization’s Web site.

The UJC’s Board of Trustees approved a move to 25 Broadway in lower Manhattan, the July 9 memo, calling the move a “unique opportunity that takes advantage of several coalescing factors that offered a move to a great downtown New York location that would meet our needs for the long-term.”

The UJC is currently located in Midtown Manhattan. The memo does not say if the space is bigger, larger or cheaper than the UJC’s current offices. Nor does it say when the organization would move.

One would assume it would be smaller, seeing as how the organization has been laying off staff and is under a mandate from the federations it serves to cut its budget.
