(JTA) — New York City will give an Orthodox Jewish nurse $40,000 to settle a discrimination claim with a city hospital.

Alisa Dolinsky, 34, of New Jersey had filed the claim against Color-Goldwater Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility on Roosevelt Island, saying the hospital had withdrawn a job offer upon finding out that she would not work in the round-the clock health facility on the Jewish Sabbath.

The facility denied any wrongdoing in the settlement.

Dolinsky started legal proceedings in 2007, the same year she said she was offered the job; she never worked for the facility. The New York City Commission on Human Rights brokered the settlement.
