Capriles’ Catholicism not in doubt

To the Editor:

Why does this story keep casting doubt on the Catholicism of Henrique Capriles Radonski , as in "Despite the fact that he says he’s Catholic"? The man says he’s a fervent Catholic and is accepted as such by the Catholic Church, so that makes him a Catholic — period, full stop.

His Jewish ancestry on his mother’s side may make him a Jew for anti-Semites, and it might give him the option of claiming a Jewish identity if he decided to do so, but it doesn’t make him any less a Catholic now.
