JERUSALEM (JTA) — A former Palestinian terrorist who lied on her application for U.S. citizenship was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Rasmieh Odeh, an associate director at the Arab American Action Network, was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Detroit. She was found guilty in November of covering up her conviction and imprisonment in Israel for bombing attacks when she entered the United States in 1995 and applied for citizenship in Detroit in 2004.
Prosecutors reportedly had requested a sentence of five to seven years; Odeh received a term in keeping with the sentencing guidelines. She reportedly will be deported to Jordan after fulfilling her sentence.
An Israeli military court convicted Odeh for her involvement in two bombings, one of which killed two at a Supersol store in Jerusalem in 1969.
Odeh, also known as Rasmea Yousef, was released from prison after 10 years in a prisoner swap between Israel and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
