The local B’nai B’rith has obtained signatures of more than 500 leading business and professional men of this city, with Congressman Charles A. Wolverton heading the list, to a protest against anti-Jewish atrocities in Germany. The petition contains the names of leading jurists, members of the city commission, and leaders of the civic and social life of the community.
Dr. Hyman I. Goldstein, a member of the B’nai B’rith committee, has announced that the local petition will be forwarded to the headquarters of the organization in Cincinnati, whence it will be delivered into the hands of President Roosevelt.
The petition, which is similar to those in circulation in the communities of forty nations throughout the world, is addressed to the President of the United States and asks him to protest, for the nation, to the German government against the atrocities.
