Five hundred new officers joined Israel’s armed services today upon their graduation from an officers’ training school. The graduation exercises, which took place at an undisclosed camp, were witnessed by the new Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Mordecai Makieff, and other high renaming officers.
In an address to the new officers, Gen. Makleff stressed the significance for Israel’s defense of the special officers’ school. He said Israel must remain on the alter because of the continued hostility of the Arab states. He pointed out that the chiefs of the Arab countries were currently conferring on coordination of anti-Israeli measures. Premier and Defense Minister David Ben Gurion sent greetings to the commencement exercises.
