A former Nazi doctor who admitted to working at Auschwitz denied that he took part in atrocities. German prosecutors began investigating Hans Muench after he was quoted in a magazine interview as saying that he was not bothered by working at Auschwitz and that gassing Jews spared them from suffering longer in the death camp. The Los Angeles-based Simon Wiesenthal Center called on the German state government of Bavaria to condemn and detain Muench.
