A. Martin Katz, a former judge and deputy county prosecutor, who is active in Jewish affairs, has been elected Mayor of Gary, second largest city in Indiana. He polled more votes than two opposition candidates combined and carried his entire Democratic ticket into office. He is a past president of Gary Lodge of B’nai B’rith, president of the Indiana B’nai B’rith and a former secretary and member of the board of Temple Beth-El.
