An appeal to Jews of the world to raise an additional $1,000,000 to be used for the purchase of land to increase the ploughable areas of Palestine in order to avoid a food shortage, was voiced here today at a joint meeting of executives of the Keren Kayemeth, the Keren Hayesod, the Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency. The project calls for 14,000 dunams for three more settlements, to be established in the name of M. M. Ussishkin.
Eliezer Kaplan, treasurer of the Jewish Agency, emphasized that “despite the war embracing both hemispheres” this fund is urgently necessary to make Palestine as self-sufficient as possible.
