Admitting refugee children and elderly persons might help rather than injure the employment situation in the United States, Louis Adamic, the author, asserts in “America and the Refugees,” a pamphlet published today by the Public Affairs Committee of New York City. The bringing in of consumer with purchasing power should aid somewhat in disposing of our food surpluses and thus help the American farmer, Mr. Adamic points out. “Many of the group will have to be supported in any case by American money,” he states, “either in Germany or elsewhere. It might better be spent here where American business can reap the profit.”
